Reedley, Calif.-based Dayka & Hackett is releasing a newly designed Eco-Tote for table grapes.

The paper used in the Eco-Tote is biodegradable, compostable and recyclable, according to a news release.

“Plastic waste is an apparent issue worldwide and its efforts on our environment are saddening,” Brett Burdsal, business development/sales for Dayka & Hackett, said in the release. “A healthy environment is important to our industry and for this reason we sought out a way to do our part in making a difference.”

The tote debuts this month, and will be used to package California grapes, according to the release.

Grapes also can be packaged in the new Kraftpack cardboard Sustainable Produce Container. Grape suppliers would probably make more money if they put 12 oz in the low profile pint instead of a 2 1/2 pound in a bag which is sometimes too much for consumers.
