New produce industry professionals have only a few days left to apply for the Eastern Produce Council’s Leadership Program, which closes its window Jan. 31.
In its second year, the professional development program is for produce professionals who have fewer than 10 years of experience in the industry, according to an EPC news release.
“The goal is to provide those selected for the program the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from both classroom and field experience,” according to the council announcement.
The program starts with a visit to a grower and port, then a Food Safety Modernization Act seminar, a Rutgers University program and culminates at the New York Produce Show and Convention in December.
“The best part was the networking, though, forming relationships with hopefully some of our future customers,” Caswell said in a Dec. 17, 2018, article in The Packer.
Headquartered in Short Hills, N.J., the council expects to select 10-12 people for the 2019 program. The accepted applicants should receive notification by Feb. 28.
