Watsonville, Calif.-based Driscoll’s has introduced a new product, an 18-ounce corrugate package of large strawberries branded as Berry Big Strawberries.

“We spent more than a year in consumer research to crystallize new usage occasions and understand the ways consumers want to enjoy strawberries,” Naomi Sakoda, product marketing manager, said in a news release. “Consumers clearly expressed that naturally big fruit encourages more dipping, slicing, dicing, filling and sharing. We are confident that Berry Big Strawberries meet a unique marketplace need and that our product strategy is directly translated from what the consumer wants.”

The product launches in May, which is National Strawberry Month, according to the release. Driscoll’s noted that quantity is limited to the start of peak California growing season.

The single-layer package is recycle-ready and comes with the How2Recycle label. The suggested retail price for Berry Big Strawberries is $4.99.
