Eastern Propak, Glassboro, N.J., a cold-storage warehouse with repacking and bagging capabilities, expanded in June 2018.
The 100,000 square-foot facility added 80,000 square feet for more storage, sorting and packing. The facility was originally for peach growers, said Francisco Allende, general manager of Sunny Valley International, which owns about half of the storage company.
But now the company takes produce from outside the state in other seasons so it can operate year-round.
“This is where we make money,” Allende said.
There are 12 bagging machines for citrus, and “in the new building, we have eight lines all doing different things, from pomegranates to grapes,” Allende said.
