Emerson, St. Louis, is focusing on cold chain best practices to minimize food waste and loss as sponsor of the second annual World Refrigeration Day on June 26.
The international event is designed to raise awareness and understanding of the significant role that the refrigeration and air conditioning plays in modern life and society, according to a news release.
“With World Refrigeration Day, we aim not only to showcase that commitment, but to also advance dialogue in the industry about how we can all achieve this goal,” Rajan Rajendran, vice president of system innovation center and sustainability for Emerson, said in the release. “We are actively engaged with leaders in the refrigeration and air conditioning industries to address the many challenges the industry is facing — including evolving environment-related regulations; climate change awareness; human health and comfort; the growing ubiquity of digital technologies; food safety and quality needs; and the never-ending energy efficiency and operating cost concerns.”
This year’s World Refrigeration Day theme is Cold Chain 4 Life. Emerson is hosting a trivia event on its Copeland Facebook page a 2 p.m. Eastern. Participants can earn gift cards and other prizes by answering questions about commercial refrigeration, company history and other topics.
