Members of the Eastern Produce Council’s Leadership Program spent a day at the Rutgers University’s Snyder Research and Extension Farm, Pittstown, touring the farm and learning communication and leadership skills.
The June 4 visit is part of a year-long program leadership program conducted by the EPC that exposes young professionals to different experiences in the fresh produce industry.
"We wanted to give the group a chance to get real-life, hands-on experience as part of this exceptional program and touring Snyder Farm was the perfect choice for the third component of the program," EPC Executive Director Susan McAleavey Sarlund said in a news release.
Previously, group members toured the Gloucester Port and Terminal in Gloucester City, N.J., and Greenyard Logistics in Swedesboro, N.J. They also attended a seminar on the Food Safety Modernization Act in late April.
The program concludes in December at the New York Produce Show and Conference.
