The inaugural class of the Eastern Produce Council’s leadership program got underway in early April.

The program provides professional development experience in the classroom and the field for those with less than 10 years of experience in the produce industry, according to a news release.

The 14 members of the 2018 class visited Holt Cargo Systems Inc. at the Port of Gloucester City (N.J.) on April 3 and also visited Greenyard Logistics USA in Swedesboro, N.J.

Leadership class members are scheduled to attend an April 24th Food Safety Modernization Act seminar, according to the release, and have additional classroom and field experience sessions throughout the year.

The program concludes in December at the New York Produce Show.
