Attendees browsed and tasted Flavorful Brands’ newest and most popular products at the March 3-5 International Restaurant and Foodservice Show in New York, which for the first time, happened side-by-side with the Healthy Food Expo and Coffee Fest.
At the 26th annual foodservice event inside the Javits Center in Manhattan, Flavorful Brands, Ladera Ranch, Calif., was one of 800 exhibiting companies who do business with restaurants, caterers and foodservice establishments.
One brand available for sampling was the Tasti-Lee red tomato, one of the few field round tomatoes that has its own Price Look Up code, plus the grape tomato version, Tasti-Wees.
The Wall Street Journal suggested kohlrabi will be a trend in fresh produce, and Flavorful Brands has pre-cleaned, chopped and ready-to-use kohlrabi versions, prepared for foodservice in noodles, 1-inch cubes and sticks.
It’s a “uniquely versatile ‘it’ vegetable, fresh-cut in a variety of convenient, ready-to-use forms,” Michael Ryshouwer, Flavorful Brands director of sales and business development, said in a news release.
Other products included Koolheads white flathead cabbage, which features a flat, smooth leaf construction and sweet, tender taste, great for crafting wraps, rolls and salads, while large enough to plate multiple dishes from a single head, reducing waste and maximizing value, according to the release.
Fresh Origins, San Marcos, Calif., which produces microgreens, Petite Greens, edible flowers and Tiny Veggies, also exhibited, as well as the Idaho Potato Commission.
