There's a little bit of good news for producers in Florida's citrus region.
The National Agriculture Statistics Service says the state is expected to produce an estimated 74,000,000 boxes of oranges this season. That's a 3.4% increase over last season. It also says Florida is expected to produce 4.6 million boxes of grapefruit. That's a 2% increase over last year.
Industry experts say the estimates are good news for an industry that has been hit by the citrus greening disease and is still recovering from damage caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017.
