The newest generation is helping grow business at WP Rawl.
Amber Rawl and siblings Lauren Clifton and Robert Clifton represent the fourth generation of family members to join the Pelion, S.C.-based grower, processor and shipper of leafy greens.
The younger Cliftons are daughter and son of Susan Clifton, vice president of finance & administration, and joined the second and third generations running the company by accepting full-time positions during summer.
Amber Rawl, daughter of Dean Rawl, vice president of equipment and engineering, is working full-time at the company while attending Midlands Technical College.
Lauren Clifton is a 2013 graduate of Anderson University.
Robert Clifton followed the footsteps of great uncle Howard Rawl, uncle Charles Wingard and second cousin Ashley Rawl, vice president of sales, marketing and product development, by earning his degree from Clemson University.
All three previously worked at the company during the summer and look forward to developing their careers and contributing to the growth of the business, according to a news release.
"We are of course elated to have Lauren, Robert and Amber join the company," Karen Johnson, a third generation family member and vice president of human relations and administration, said in the release.
"It is especially meaningful this year as we celebrate 90 years of WP Rawl. I know our grandparents, Walter and Ernestine, would be proud of everything we have accomplished and that the family continues to have interest in growing the business and carrying on the legacy."
Founded in 1925, WP Rawl has grown to become a year-round grower, shipper and processor of bulk and value-added leafy greens and vegetables.
It ships product in its trademarked Rawl, Nature"s Greens, Palmetto Gardens and Versatile Veggies labels.
