Chef Michelle Bernstein will educate and entertain attendees of The Packer’s Global Organic Produce Expo at the Jan. 27 breakfast before the expo.

She regularly appears on a variety of national TV shows, from “Top Chef” to “Good Morning America,” and owns and operates MBC Michelle Bernstein Catering Company, a full-service catering company, and her popular café concept, Crumb on Parchment.

“Fruits and vegetables may be our day jobs, but most of us also love food, so we’re excited to bring in someone like Michelle for GOPEX,” said Farm Journal vice president produce Shannon Shuman.

The Packer’s GOPEX event is scheduled for Jan. 25-27 at the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Fla.

Jan. 26 features a full day of education on organic and consumer trends in coordination with the Organic Trade Association, while Jan. 27 follows Bernstein’s presentation with a six-hour expo, featuring more than 100 buyers from small independent retail chains to food delivery to the largest retailers in the U.S. in Walmart and Kroger.

Bernstein is a Miami native whose food style is influenced by her Latin and Jewish background.

“My food isn’t heavy-handed or unnecessarily complicated,” she said. “You don’t need heavy-handed technique and over-the-top presentations to make a dish work. It’s about amazing ingredients, layered flavors and simplicity.”
