Great Lakes Packers Inc., Bellevue, Ohio, has hired Andrew Weingart.

The company posted a $90,000 surety bond with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to employ Weingart, due to a Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act requirement.

Weingart is the former president and a stockholder of Forest City Weingart Produce Co., Cleveland, which was found to have committed PACA violations by the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service in September 2018, according to a USDA news release.

PACA licensees wanting to employ individuals who have failed to pay PACA awards, or who have been subject to a USDA disciplinary action, must post a surety bond. The USDA will hold the $90,000 bond for four years and nine months, according to the release.
