Value-added products like Sweet Potatoes with a Brown Sugar Rub and Potato Blend with Herb Butter are popular at this time of year from New Brighton, Minn.-based H. Brooks & Co. LLC, says Nina Brooks Haag, senior director of marketing and R&D. ( Brooks & Co. LLC. )

The acquisition of New Brighton, Minn.-based H. Brooks and Co. and St. Paul, Minn.-based J&J Distributing by the Dragonfly Group should be completed in the fall, said Nina Brooks Haag, senior director of marketing and R&D for H. Brooks & Co.

It was announced in the spring that the two produce distributors will be consolidated as New Harvest Foods, which will be headed by CEO Ron Carkoski, who retired in December after serving as CEO of the Four Seasons Family of Cos. since 2002.

New Harvest Foods is controlled by Edina, Minn.-based the Dragonfly Group and its affiliates, led by entrepreneur Jason Jaynes.

“We’ll be able to take the complementary strengths of both organizations and create a new and stronger healthy foods company,” Brooks Haag said.

Meanwhile, H. Brooks has launched a new line of dips that can be served hot or cold.

The line includes Mexican Street Corn Dip, Spicy Southwestern Spinach Dip, Buffalo Chicken Cheese Dip and Artichoke Dip.

They come in 16-ounce, oven-safe trays.
