Hall's Organic Farms

Small-scale grower Hall’s Organic Farms in Salinas, Calif., has found niche markets for its organic vegetables, strawberries and more — in food hubs, high-tech companies and farmers markets.

Founder and CEO Stevie Hall sells beets, radishes, kales, carrots, chards, cilantro and bok choy to food hubs that gather and distribute food items from local growers, usually those with ecological agricultural practices, for large institutions or cities. 

Hall’s Organic grows on 13 acres and also produces peppers, tomatoes and squash in the summer, as well as two niche items, stinging nettle and purslane. 

Customers buy stinging nettle for medicinal tea and pizza, and sauté it like spinach, he said.
