The Hass Avocado Board is seeking new members for domestic grower and importer seats on the board.

The board began mailing nomination forms on April 10, and they are due May 9, according to a news release. Ballots for the nominees will go out to eligible industry voters by May 29, and they are due June 26.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture makes the final determination on board members, whose terms start at the group’s meeting in November. For more information on the election, visit the Hass Avocado Board's website.

“HAB is committed on our five-year strategic plan set out in 2016 and our success depends on the leadership of our board members,” Ohannes Karaoghlanian, board chairman, said in the release. “This is a call to serve, to share expertise in key areas that will help us maximize our very forward-focused plan.”

The Hass Avocado Board’s strategic plan has six priorities:

  • Building demand
  • Nutrition research
  • Supply and demand data
  • Sustainability
  • Industry engagement
  • Quality
