With an eye on continuing a period of growth for the company, California Giant Berry Farms has hired Brittany Wang as financial sales analyst and David Johnson as a logistics specialist.

Also, in mid-October Markus Duran has been promoted from blueberry category specialist to North American blueberry operations manager.

Wang, who started at California Giant on Oct. 10, is already supporting the sales desk by analyzing data, and researching economic conditions in growing regions to position the company for growth, according to a news release.

Johnson joins the company Oct. 29, according to the release, and will work with Logistics Manager Gary Bertone, who is responsible for transporting and logistics for all berries throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Duran has been with California Giant for five years, as it has grown into a year-round grower-packer-shipper of fresh blueberries.

In the release, California Giant’s chief operating officer, Joe Barsi, is credited with “strengthening communication and culture” at the company. Barsi, who joined the company earlier this year, has participated in a strategic planning process, implemented an annual Grower Summit and employee training programs.

 “The berry industry is going to look very different five years from now,” Barsi said in the release. “In anticipation of that, we went through an extensive strategic planning process. Our company values of Quality, Community and Fairness have not changed, but our strategies to address the rapidly changing berry industry had to.”

Other recent hires include:

  • Abelardo Rodriguez, systems coordinator-packaging/track & trace;
  • Wendi Castagnola, staff accountant; and
  • Shannon Cotton, sales coordinator.
