Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference organizers are offering full registration to growers who faced substantial losses from Hurricane Michael, making it easier for them to attend the annual show.

The show is sponsored by the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association and the South Carolina Peach Council.

“GFVGA is committed to serving the fruit and vegetable growers of Georgia and promoting the overall produce industry,” according to an e-mail announcing the registration scholarships. “We applaud your resiliency through tough times and sincerely hope you will be able to join us in Savannah January 10-13, 2019.”

To request the registration waiver, send an e-mail with the subject line “registration scholarship” to [email protected] and include this information:

  • Contact Name
  • Phone
  • E-mail
  • Full address
  • County
  • Crops
  • Estimated acreage damaged

Organizers will respond with the complimentary registration code if the request is approved, according to the group.

The conference includes many sessions covering commodities including blueberries, peaches, watermelons, Vidalia onions and vegetables, plus special sessions including a Jan. 10 Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training.

Registration information is available online.
