Avocado company Index Fresh, Riverside, Calif., has hired a vice president of operations and promoted others to key roles in California and Texas facilities.

Santiago Pecheco, vice president of operations, oversees Index Fresh facilities in Bloomington, Calif., and Pharr Texas, according to a news release, as well as the company’s logistics and transportation, and all third-party warehouses and ripening centers across the U.S. He has more than 30 years of experience in the food and beverage industry.

Pacheco worked at Ready Pac twice for a total of 21 years, as plant manager and director of operations. He most recently was senior vice president of operations at Earthbound Farm.

Manrique Palacios, who joined Index Fresh in mid-2107 as the distribution center manager of the then-new Pharr facility, is now plant manager of the Bloomington facility. He helped the company start operations at the Texas facility, according to the release. At the Bloomington facility, he’s responsible for overall plant operation, from procurement, to packing, ripening and shipping.

He has more than 15 years of experience in supply chain and logistics management in consumer packaged goods and fresh produce. He previously worked for PepsiCo and Wonderful Citrus.

Juan Valdez is the new distribution center manager at the Pharr facility. He joined the company in September 2017 as warehouse manager, working with Palacios, according to the release. He has a background in produce and distribution, specializing in warehouse management, according to the release.
