An Israeli produce exporter has begun shipping its first loads of fresh black bursa figs.

Emek Hefer, Israel-based Aviv Corp. expects to ship black bursas, a popular Turkish fig variety, from mid-July to the end of August, according to a company news release.

Black bursas are known for their large size, longer shelf life and flavor, according to the release.

Aviv Corp. packs black bursas in cartons with insert trays that nest each piece of fruit for added protection.
