Produce Marketing Association recognized Jill Overdorf for her service as Foodservice Committee co-chairwoman July 27 at the PMA Foodservice Conference and Expo in Monterey, Calif.

Overdorf is director of business development for foodservice at Salinas, Calif.-based Naturipe Farms LLC. Nichole Towell, current co-chairwoman and senior director of marketing for Duda Farm Fresh Foods Inc., presented Overdorf with a plaque, according to a news release.

“Jill has a nearly unmatched passion for the industry,” Towell said in the release. “She’s been an integral member of this committee for 10 years and has co-chaired three previous Foodservice conferences in addition to her work this year.”

Overdorf said in her opening remarks on the first day of the event that her primary responsibility as co-chairwoman has been to be an ambassador for the produce industry and help cultivate an event where business connections and opportunities are made, according to the release.

“Jill has been a tireless advocate for promoting produce as good for you, delicious and center of the plate — which is the holy trinity of success in this business,” Towell said. “Her background as an executive chef has made her uniquely qualified as a leader in our industry, and a champion of our cause to get more plants on plates.”

Overdorf encouraged PMA members to consider volunteering with the association or Center for Growing Talent, according to the release.

“Being co-chair is the most proactive opportunity for me to advocate for fresh fruits and vegetables in everyday menus,” she said.

Overdorf said in her new role with Naturipe Farms she will still work to ensure produce gets its share of the menu, according to the release.
