Kaari Stannard, owner of New York Apple Sales Inc., Glenmont, is the new chairwoman of the U.S. Apple Association board of directors.

Stannard succeeds Mark Boyer, co-owner of Ridgetop Orchards, Fishertown, Pa.

Stannard’s yearlong term became official during the apple association’s annual Crop Outlook and Marketing Conference Aug. 23-24 in Chicago.

She is a partner in Pomona Packing and Lake Ontario Fruit, western New York packing facilities, and she’s also a partner in Fish Creek Orchards in Orlando County, according to a news release.

“Kaari’s breadth of knowledge about and dedication to the apple industry have been instrumental in helping shape the direction of U.S. Apple during her board tenure over the last several years,” Jim Bair, association president and CEO, said in the release. “Her passion for the apple industry, coupled with her ‘can-do’ leadership style, will serve U.S. Apple and its members well during the next year.”

Stannard is a board member of the U.S. Apple Export Council and served two terms as a New York Apple Association board member, according to the release.
