Keany Produce & Gourmet, Landover, Md., has donated more than $100,000 worth of fresh produce to food banks and other charities during the COVID-19 crisis.
The company is using its fleet of trucks to make the deliveries across the Washington, D.C., region, according to a news release. The company began the donations March 13.
“While the effects of COVID-19 are certainly impacting our business, we want to do everything we can to support our surrounding community during this time,” Caitlin Keany said in a news release. “We have established a team dedicated to processing all donation requests and fulfillments.”
Donations include lettuce, apple slices, grapes, broccoli florets, diced onions and green beans, according to the release.
Organization receiving donations include DC Central Kitchen, Maryland Food Bank, Manna Food Center, Catholic Charities and Christ House.
The company plans to continue donations to non-profits, and requests can be sent to [email protected].
