Hazel Technologies Inc., Chicago, has hired Kelly Dietz as vice president of sales.

Dietz has been in the produce industry for more than 20 years, most recently as vice president of business development at Seald Sweet International. She has also been East Coast director of business development for Berry Fresh, director of sales for Grimmway Farms, where she was for 15 years, focusing on expanding East Coast retail sales.

At Hazel Tech, Dietz will report to Pat Flynn, chief marketing officer, and lead sales and business development departments, according to a news release.

“Kelly’s sales and business development experience in the produce industry will allow Hazel Tech to continue to share our new innovations with the industry, mentor future leaders at our company, and establish Hazel Tech as the leading post-harvest technology brand in the fresh produce category,” CEO Aidan Mouat said in the release.

“Each step in my career has helped prepare me for this role,” Dietz said in the release. “I am incredibly proud and excited to help lead Hazel’s continuing adoption across the fresh produce industry.”

The company’s shelf-life extension technology is expected to be used on more than 3.2 billion pounds of fresh produce this year, saving more than 270 million pounds from being wasted, according to the release.
