Fairfield, Calif.-based agricultural bin manufacturer Macro Plastics has joined 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of the annual sales of its Hybrid bin line to support environmental nonprofits.

“Macro Plastics has a history of creating long lasting, reusable products to help our customers reduce waste,” Emma Ranz, sustainability engineer with Macro Plastics, said in a news release. “Joining 1% for the Planet is another step in continuing our commitment to taking care of our resources and having a positive impact on our environment.”

Members of 1% for the Planet pledge to support approved environmental nonprofits by donating the equivalent of 1% of sales through a combination of monetary, in-kind and advertising donations, according to the release. There are thousands of approved nonprofits around the world, which are vetted based on referrals, track record and focus.

Macro Plastics manufactures bins and other products that are fully recyclable, and the company works to recover the materials for recycling and reuse, according to the release.

“We are thrilled to welcome Macro Plastics to our global network,” Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet, said in the release. “Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment, and only 3% of that comes from businesses. We need more businesses like Macro Plastics to do their valuable part to increase giving and support on-the-ground outcomes.”
