The National Mango Board recently hired Marissa Khan as a marketing manager and Michelle Larkin as a marketing specialist.
Both joined the staff in December, following the November addition of Tammy Wiard as the new retail program manager.
Khan will plan, manage and coordinate marketing and communications programs, including social media and newsletters. She brings more than a decade of marketing experience from the events, nonprofit and consumer packaged goods industries.
Larkin is responsible for creating blog content and monitoring social media. Larkin has previously worked in marketing and events in the hospitality industry.
Wiard, who succeeded Wendy McManus, oversees the retail marketing staff and all retail support programs. Prior to joining the mango board, she was director of retail marketing for the Florida Department of Citrus. She has also worked for Albertsons/Safeway.
The mango board marketing staff also includes marketing manager Angela Serna and director of marketing Valda Coryat.
Material from the National Mango Board will be getting a new look this year.
Development is ongoing, though some elements are already pointing to a brighter and bolder appearance.
“We are tapping into fun as an emotion that leads to happiness, but not abandoning our nutrition angle,” Serna said. “Consumer research done last year drew us closer to the psychographic profile of our purchasers and found that most see mangoes as a fun treat.
“With this new brand and look, we are continuing to drive demand with current purchasers while turning lapsed users into frequent purchasers,” Serna said.
