Market Fresh Produce has made a capital investment in Scott Street Tomato House, its co-packer in Tennessee for more than 12 years.
The relationship from vendor partner to capital investment partner will allow both companies to improve logistics and more effectively serve customers, according to a news release.
Scott Street, Memphis, Tenn., will replace Market Fresh's repacking facility in Monett, Mo., as the selected supply center for Market Fresh in the Midwest. Market Fresh purchased the Monett facility in 2014. The company also purchased a tomato repacking facility in Tampa, Fla., in 2013.
Besides tomatoes, Scott Street provides bananas, avocados, corn, peppers, citrus and Hispanic produce. As an independent wholesaler, Scott Street can cater to specific needs from its customer base, according to the release.
Scott Street supplies retail, warehouse, restaurants and other foodservice companies, according to the release. According to its website, it serves customers in Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri and the Lower Mississippi Valley.
