Kingsville, Ontario-based Mastronardi Produce is getting ready for warmer weather with this season’s first crop of Aloha peppers from its Michigan greenhouse.

The pepper won a Superior Taste Award from the International Taste and Quality Institute last year, according to a news release.

“Our Aloha pepper brings a bold, fresh look to the produce department and an aromatic flavor that’s perfect for spring salads and summer grilling,” CEO Paul Mastronardi said in the release.

The Aloha, exclusive to Mastronardi, has red and yellow overlapping stripes and can be used in stir-fries, for grilling, for snacking and in salads, according to the release.

“Spring and summer are made for sweet, tropical flavors,” Mastronardi said in the release. 

“Not only does the Aloha pepper offer a taste of the tropics, it pairs beautifully with citrus flavors and robust spices, so it’s incredibly versatile.”

The pepper is part of Mastronardi’s Chef-Inspired collection, according to the release, and is available in 12 by 2 count cases and 11-pound bulk cases.
