Tanimura & Antle has hired Matt Roy as vice president of business development for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA).

Roy reports to Scott Grabau, CEO and president, according to a news release.

Roy’s first jobs in the industry was for a B&R Stores, where he was 10 years, 6 of them as produce manager. He has also been a produce buyer at Associated Wholesale Grocers, president of Harold Crawford Co. Inc., and senior director of produce at US Foods.

He has served on the Southeast Produce Council’s board of directors, and United Fresh Produce Association’s Wholesaler-Distributor Board. He is a graduate of United Fresh’s Industry Leadership Program.

At Tanimura & Antle, Roy will be creating new business for the company’s expanding line of greenhouse items, according to the release.

“Matt’s love for our industry, along with his leadership experience and involvement within the indoor growing industry will play a crucial role as we partner with our customers to define the greenhouse grown industry,” Grabau said in the release.

Tanimura & Antle plans to officially launch its greenhouse products at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit Oct. 15-17 in Dallas, according to the release.

“I have been a longtime advocate of the controlled environment and urban agriculture space and have been fortunate to lead and be involved with multiple related projects during my career,” Roy said in the release.
