Mike Pirrone Produce, Capac, Mich., has promoted Matthew DeBlouw to president.

DeBlouw joined the company in April 2017 as warehouse coordinator and was promoted to his most recent position, chief operations officer, in January 2018.

Joe Pirrone, former president of the company, plans to return to mentor the sales team, according to a news release.

“We have a great team of young, hard-working people with a lot of integrity, and we will build upon that,” he said in the release.

Pirrone sold his shares in the company to co-owner Butch DeBlouw in 2012, but he remained at the company in a sales capacity until early 2017.

“Produce is in your blood and never leaves,” Joe Pirrone said in the release. “I look forward to walking fields, sitting on packing lines, and providing forecasts to our customers.”

Henry DeBlouw, who became president of the company when his father Butch died in a workplace accident, is Matthew DeBlouw’s brother. He is no longer connected with the company.
Mike Pirrone Produce is forecasting a strong crop year.

“Given the challenging spring I expect our crops to be ten days later than usual but with the current change in weather, I have never seen a healthier crop,” Matthew DeBlouw said in the release.

There’s only a few who can step into a role of such stature and the experience needed to take a company to the next level or even maintain its current customer base. The word “president” is tossed around like its a trophy. Hard work with the right team makes a company. Congratulations to Matthew but he has some very big shoes to fill.

Many know the previous president who stepped down who deserves the upmost respect which isn’t even discussed in this article.

If your in this business you know what it took for a young man after loosing his father to step in and take care of business like any son would. It’s a true shame to see bothers not being able to work hand in hand. I’m sure Butchy wouldn’t have it this way . This is a great loss on many levels and the greatest loss was taken away way to early from everyone.

I’d also like to congratulate Joe for a fantastic return. Mentoring children was always his calling.

Congratulations to all who have moved on to better or returning or have taken on a different role.

The sun rises and sets each day. You know what end your on.

Best of luck to the new President. He is a nice young man who has been learning the business on a very fast track. Thankfully Joe is still around to mentor another young man who is left with a huge challenge like his brother before him.
The former President will move on and start again with a new venture that will make Butch proud. He is a true produce professional who has learned from two of the best in the produce business over the last twenty years. He is well known and respected in the industry and I expect great things from him in the future. Blessings!!

I have known the Deblouw family and worked with them personally for over 20 years. Times change just as people and businesses do, this is just one of those occasions. I am looking forward to new and better things coming from Pirrone and can't wait for another great season moving forward.
