Mike Pirrone Produce, Capac, Mich., has promoted Matthew DeBlouw to president.
DeBlouw joined the company in April 2017 as warehouse coordinator and was promoted to his most recent position, chief operations officer, in January 2018.
Joe Pirrone, former president of the company, plans to return to mentor the sales team, according to a news release.
“We have a great team of young, hard-working people with a lot of integrity, and we will build upon that,” he said in the release.
Pirrone sold his shares in the company to co-owner Butch DeBlouw in 2012, but he remained at the company in a sales capacity until early 2017.
“Produce is in your blood and never leaves,” Joe Pirrone said in the release. “I look forward to walking fields, sitting on packing lines, and providing forecasts to our customers.”
Henry DeBlouw, who became president of the company when his father Butch died in a workplace accident, is Matthew DeBlouw’s brother. He is no longer connected with the company.
Mike Pirrone Produce is forecasting a strong crop year.
“Given the challenging spring I expect our crops to be ten days later than usual but with the current change in weather, I have never seen a healthier crop,” Matthew DeBlouw said in the release.
