Watsonville, Calif.-based Monterey Mushrooms has expanded its capacity to meet demand as the number of natural and organic retail outlets expands, said Mike O’Brien, vice president of sales and marketing.
The company has five farms that grow certified organic mushrooms — Morgan Hill, Calif.; Las Lomas, Calif.; Madisonville, Texas; Loudon, Tenn.; and Princeton, Ill.
Monterey Mushrooms grows and sells organic white, portabella and baby bella mushrooms available whole or sliced in 8-ounce and 16-pound containers.
The company has additional varieties in its organic line that includes king trumpet, beech, maitake, shiitake, oyster and enoki mushrooms in award-winning 4-ounce sustainable packaging that includes graphics with usage ideas, product facts and how-to-cook instructions, O’Brien said.
The paper tills are recyclable, biodegradable and compostable.
