Nature Fresh Farms has sold its first greenhouse facilities in Leamington, Ontario, to Chosen Fresh Farms Ltd., which will now supply Nature Fresh.

The 36 acres, known by Nature Fresh as Phase 1 and Phase 2, is now in the hands of Chosen Fresh owners Neil Enns, Ben Friesen, Abram Fehr and Peter Klassen, according to a Nature Fresh news release.

“The sale of our original 36 acres adds a new long-term grower to our family of existing growers and allows us to expedite our upcoming plans for expansion,” John Keller, Nature Fresh general manager, said in the release. “It also supports several local families to get into the greenhouse farming business which encourages others to take an interest in the industry.”

Nature Fresh has expansion plans beyond Phase 8, construction of which should be complete by spring, according to the release. The company plans to focus on expanding organic production in 2020.

The company commemorated the transition in ownership with a ribbon cutting ceremony Dec. 4. Peter Quiring, Nature Fresh founder and owner, congratulated Chosen Fresh Farms.

“As our market share continues to grow, Nature Fresh Farms needs an ongoing new supply of innovative, passionate growers to keep us ahead of the competition,” Quiring said in the release.
