Greenhouse grower NatureFresh Farms is celebrating 20 years, harvesting the first crop from a new 32-acre facility in Leamington, Ontario.

Harvest of the 235,000 tomato plants at the greenhouse in June, and the crop will produce into spring, according to a news release. There are more than 15 acres of tomatoes-on-the-vine and more than 15 of specialty tomatoes, including red cherry, red grape and cocktail tomatoes.

In 2015, the company opened a 45-acre greenhouse in Delta, Ohio, to establish a year-round supply.

“NatureFresh Farms made a major commitment to year-round consistency in supply, quality, and flavor five years ago when we built our greenhouse in Ohio for winter production,” Matt Quiring, executive retail sales account manager, said in the release. “This allowed us to offset the typical growing season for Canada and it has been a tremendous success for our retail partners – and consumers have shown support for the USA-grown program from the start.”

With its completion, the 32-acre Leamington greenhouse brings NatureFresh Farms’ overall acreage to more than 200 acres, according to the release.
