Matt Wells, director of field services of New York Apple Sales, Glenmont, N.Y., has been selected to participate in an intensive leadership development program for New York State’s food and agricultural industry.
LEAD New York, established 34 years ago as the Empire State Food and Agricultural Leadership Institute, has helped more than 500 graduates to take on leadership roles in the food, agricultural and natural resource industries of the Northeast, according to a news release.
The program includes seminars, workshops, field travel experiences and a weeklong international study trip. It focuses on leadership skill development, self-awareness, civic engagement, a greater understanding of rural issues and cultivating leadership networks.
Participants will learn the latest trends, issues and technological advancements in food and agriculture and attend facility tours and meetings with influential figures.
