Two New York apple varieties are about to get their moment in the spotlight with an appearance on Lifetime Network’s program “The Balancing Act.”
SnapDragon and RubyFrost, from New York co-op Crunch Time Apple Growers, will be featured in a May 15 segment of the lifestyle program’s show, according to a news release.
The segment is scheduled to feature growers from the co-op, who will discuss apple growing practices and the Crunch Time group, as well as the two varieties, according to the release.
“Crunch Time Apple Growers is a unique co-op of 145 growers across the state,” Joel Crist, Crunch Time board vice chairman, said in the release. “(The group) produces over 60% of the apples in ... New York. The vast majority of our farms are family owned, some going back six and seven generations,” he said.
“We jumped at the opportunity to share not only the history of Crunch Time and the two amazing apples we grow, but also the story of our farmers,” Crist said in the release.
“The Balancing Act” is a morning show targeted to on-the-go women and features recipes, parenting and financial tips and lifestyle segments, according to the release.
Rena Montedoro, Crunch Time director of marketing, said in the release that “The Balancing Act” reaches the group’s target demographic and the feature provides a good brand value.
