The New Jersey Department of Agriculture is giving consumers the chance to thank the state’s growers during the pandemic.

A social media photo contest begins June 10 and runs through Sept. 2. The #thankyouNJfarmers contest selects two winners each week to receive a $250 gift card for fresh produce at a Jersey Fresh market. An overall winner will receive a $500 gift card, to be announced on Sept. 9.

“This contest will be a great opportunity to showcase the essential work our farmers do every day,” N.J. Secretary of Agriculture Douglas Fisher said in a news release. “They grow outstanding fruits and vegetables year after year and are the reason the Jersey Fresh brand is so trusted.

“We know consumers will be creative and enthusiastic in highlighting the many sectors of agriculture in the Garden State,” Fisher said in the release.

To enter, consumers must share photos of farmers, farms, markets, or produce, with the #thankyouNJfarmers hashtag on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to be automatically entered to win.

The funding for the program is through a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant.
