Given recent border tensions with Mexico, getting the word out about the importance of an integrated trading system has been a priority for several U.S. business and trade associations.

Tom Karst, editor of The Packer, caught up with Richard Owen, vice president of global business development at the Produce Marketing Association, on the expo floor of the Canadian Produce Marketing Association convention in Montreal on April 4.

Owen talked about recent border tensions with Mexico and the critical need to maintain an integrated trading system for North America. Owen also discusses the prospects — and the importance — of passing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement in coming months.
