Banana grower-shipper One Banana has donated almost $5 million to corporate social responsibility programs  through its parent company, AgroAmerica.

The programs benefit the company"s employees and their families and rural communities in Guatemala, according to a news release.

One Banana, launched in 2014 by Miami-based AgroAmerica, ships bananas from Guatemala and Ecuador.

Programs include the company"s Human Development Center, which provides low-cost medical care to the public and free education to the children of workers in Retalhuleu, Guatemala.

The center includes an outpatient medical clinic, on-site research department and clinical laboratory. Staff includes a medical director, a medical school resident, a research physician, a pharmacist, seven full-time community outreach nurses, and two on-site nurses.

One Banana ships to North America, Europe, Asia and Mediterranean markets.
