The Ontario Produce Marketing Association is working with Ontario Food Terminal wholesalers to offer Toronto-area families healthful food through the Christmas FoodShare program.

The association is on track to and pack more than 1,000 of the boxes with fresh produce from the terminal market in Etobicoke and packed at the Daily Bread Food Bank warehouse by volunteers, according to a news release.

“It’s great to see people from across the Ontario produce industry come together to bring joy and amazing fresh produce to deserving families this holiday season,” Michelle Broom, president of the OPMA, said in the release. “Each box contains approximately $60 of fresh, high-quality fruit and vegetables thanks to the generous contributions of the Toronto Wholesale Produce Association, the wholesalers at the Ontario Food Terminal, Ontario farmers and the support of volunteers.”

Christmas Foodshare has provided the produce boxes to more than 30,000 families since 1990.
