Vancouver, British Columbia-based The Oppenheimer Group in 2019 is marking 10 years of marketing cherries from The Dalles, Ore.-based Orchard View Inc., said David Nelley, category vice president at Oppy.
“We’ll be celebrating through the season as we plan on having our best year ever,” he said.
“Our team has been on the road, setting up programs with retailers and reminding them that the fourth-generation growers at Orchard View are truly the cherry experts of the Pacific Northwest region.”
Nelley cited Orchard View’s expertise in cherries, because that item is all the company grows.
“In the decade we’ve worked together, we’ve seen how Orchard View chooses the right varieties for the ideal timing and site,” Nelley said.
“They focus on optimizing cherry volume, efficiency and quality, spending virtually the whole year preparing for the intense eight-week season.”
Orchard View has been growing cherries for nearly a century, Nelley said.
“With the farm’s 100th anniversary coming up in a few short years, we’re excited to be part of new variety trials that are underway,” he said.
“This season we’ll get a look at small volumes of new dark, sweet, red cherries that will ultimately help fill the gap between chelans and bings.”
