Divemex, a Mexico-based grower-partner of Vancouver, British Columbia-based The Oppenheimer Group, has expanded its organic and conventional sweet bell pepper production by adding a facility in Nayarit to existing greenhouses in Jalisco and Sinaloa, said Aaron Quon, Oppy’s executive greenhouse category director.

“This has enabled the grower to extend its season with a month-earlier start and increase the overall volume of the high quality, crunchy sweet bells our customers have come to expect,” Quon said.

Oppenheimer also recently launched a new “PepperUP” display contest for retailers carrying Divemex peppers, Quon said.

The contest runs through the end of March. Cash prizes of $2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second and $500 for third will go out in early April, and the first 50 entrants receive a $25 gift card to Subway or Starbucks, Quon said.
