The Oppenheimer Group has promoted Ray Reed to director of global procurement and Andres Ribalta to general manager of its Chilean operations.
The moves are in response to Oppy’s growth plans, according to Doug Grant, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
“Oppy’s plans for the coming years target growth in local and international markets, and the latest promotions of Ray Reed and Andres Ribalta, proven company veterans who bring unrivaled experience, expertise and vision, will enable us to accomplish just that,” Grant said in a news release.
Reed, Oppy’s general manager for Chile since the mid-2000s, will focus on expanding and strengthening supply sources as director of global procurement. Reed, who starts in the position Oct. 1, will be based in Oppy’s California offices.
Reed’s background in grower relations will be an asset for his role in working with Oppy’s grower relations teams in the U.S, Mexico, Chile, Peru and other global markets, according to the release. He has been with the company for 19 years, and was at Jac. Vandenberg Inc. in sales before that.
Ribalta is the former head of Oppy categories in Chile, and he’ll succeed Reed in the general manager role, reporting to Eric Coty, vice president of South American operations, according to the release. Ribalta will oversee Oppy’s Chilean exports and procurement of fresh produce for North America. He joined Oppy in 2011.
