Origin Organic Farms has increased production of greenhouse English cucumbers and red bell peppers for the Delta, British Columbia, season.

The company, which markets vegetables through The Oppenheimer Group, Vancouver, British Columbia, also is improving cucumber yields with a system that allows vines to grow higher.

Cucumber harvest at Origin Organic (also known as OriginO) began in February, and tomatoes and peppers begin in mid-April, according to a news release.

“With organics becoming more available and sough after, it’s exactly what consumers are looking for,” Raymond Wong, OriginO president, said in a news release.

“With this transition in our crop, we’ll be able to deliver more of what they want,” Wong said in the release.

The company will harvest the vegetables through the end of summer.

OriginO highlights sustainable business practices, including recycling soil every two to three years, providing a unique ecosystem for pest management and nearly eliminating water and plant nutrition waste, according to the release.
