Hazel Technologies Inc., Chicago, has hired Parker Booth as chief operations officer.

Booth has worked in numerous companies in the produce industry, starting in 1978 at Sea and Land Services LLC, which is now a part of A.P. Moller Maersk, according to a news release. He was there for almost 16 years, leaving as general manager.

He was at Transfresh Corp., a division of Fresh Express, for six years, as vice president and general manager. He moved to Fresh Express in 2000, and was there for eight years, serving as vice president of sales for the foodservice division.

Booth later was president of Ace Tomato Co., and then president and CEO of Organic Alliance Inc., where he was from 2009-14. He then became vice president of SmartPac Global.

At Transfresh, Booth supervised the development of the Tectrol line of packaging technology for fresh produce, according to the release. At Fresh Express, he helped pioneer the technology to package and distribute bagged salads.

At Hazel Tech, Booth will focus on international operations and logistics, commercial partnerships and general management, according to the release.

“Parker’s leadership and experience in the produce industry will allow Hazel Tech to continue to flourish as the premier post-harvest solutions provider for the produce industry and other perishable categories,” Hazel Tech CEO Aidan Mouat said in the release.
