The Produce Marketing Association has hired Ruben Ramirez as its general manager in Mexico.

Ramirez has a background in international business, with previous experiences at NSF International, FreshKampo and PrimusLabs, according to a news release. He has a background in food safety and technology.

“Ruben has been an active member of the produce industry in Mexico for a long time,” Nancy Tucker, PMA vice president, said in the release. “He works not only with the supply chain, but across country borders, having developed great business relationships throughout Central and South America.”

PMA has grown its presence in Mexico over the past several years, offering annual Fresh Connections events and other networking opportunities, according to the release.

“Ruben has great experience in our industry, and he knows how to create lasting relationships not only for himself but between others as well,” Roberto Salazar, chairman of the PMA Mexico City Council, said in the release. “I am excited to see him join PMA’s efforts to bring people together across the entire supply chain, in Mexico and across the globe.”
