Rigby Produce has posted a $100,000 surety bond to hire an individual who was previously subject to disciplinary action under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture news release.

The Rigby, Idaho, company is a fresh potato operation, and posted the surety bond with the USDA to hire Alan Taylor, previously the manager of Taylor Produce LLC.

Taylor’s company was sanctioned for failing to pay a $1,327,478 million reparation award for potatoes sourced from another Idaho grower.

The surety bond works as a guarantee to the industry that Rigby Produce will follow PACA rules in its business dealings and pay for produce it purchases.
