Potatoes USA started the new year by sponsoring of the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at the 25th anniversary Walt Disney World Marathon in Orlando, Fla.
The potato group is working to build credibility for potatoes as a fuel for athletic performance, and the runDisney event gave the opportunity to spread that message to the 75,000 athletes and spectators attending the Jan. 4-7 marathon event, according to a news release.
Potatoes USA staff handed out more than 6,000 copies of its new “Potato Power: 13 Potato Recipes for Athletic Performance” booklet.
The group received positive feedback from attendees, with comments including, “There really is no reason not to eat potatoes for athletic performance!” and “Potatoes are something we don’t eat enough of but we should!” and “Potatoes are the best fuel,” according to the release.
Potatoes USA also gave out 20,000 samples of On the Go Potatoes, one of the 13 recipes featured in the Potato Power booklet.
