Monterey, Calif.-based distributor Pro*Act has created a website designed to encourage chefs to feature produce in their dishes.

The new site, Colorful Plates, includes information on seasonality, usage ideas, recipes, storage tips, flavor profiles of various produce items, chef features and more.

“The goal has always been to develop simple bites of information, alongside produce inspiration, so partnering with our supplier community and award-winning chefs was vital,” marketing manager Mackenzie Lovelace said in the release. “The assistance that we have received from top-tier growers has been amazing. Their willingness to share their resources, expertise and advice really made this possible.”

The site has been in development for 14 months and aims to provide useful information for numerous types of buyers.

“Our network serves foodservice operators from family to fine dining, from healthcare to hospitality, and from K-12 to colleges,” Lovelace said. “Colorful Plates has resources geared towards chefs in each of those sectors ... Culinary expertise in fresh produce has been historically underrepresented, we hope this kind of resource is meeting a need during a time that people are looking for more plant-forward menu choices.”

Podcast episodes and video clips are also part of the site.
