Los Angeles-based ProducePay, which provides financing for growers and shippers, is expanding its sales staff and increasing its presence around the country.

ProducePay has opened a Fresno, Calif., office and expects to have up to 10 new hires there by the end of July, according to a news release.

“We saw the need to be closer to our grower, shipper and distributor community in order to serve them better and quicker,” Steve Poindexter, chief commercial officer, said in the release.

The company has salespeople in Florida, Colorado and Mexico and expects to have people in Texas and Arizona by mid-July.

Recent additions to the ProducePay staff include senior associate Lauren Del Rosario, an industry veteran who most recently worked at Hammonton, N.J.-based Frank Donio, and Katy Mae Harrison, whose responsibility is Southeast development. Both started with the company in April.

Harrison was the Florida Watermelon Queen in 2016 and has working relationships with many of the growers in the Southeast, according to the release.

Del Rosario is working from Colorado, and Harrison is based in Florida.
