PureFresh Sales, Selma, Calif., will be using shelf life extending products from Hazel Technologies, Chicago, to keep its fruit fresher.

Since PureFresh started using Hazel Tech products with some its fruit shipments, the company has reported increased sales and a drop in lower-quality claims, according to a news release.

“Since implementing Hazel Tech in our programs, we have seen a 55% reduction in quality claims,” Bill Purewall, president of PureFresh Sales, said in the release. “This savings not only creates value for our business, but also creates value for the environment, reducing food waste and ultimately making our supply chain more sustainable long-term.”

More than 150 growers, packer and retailers use Hazel Tech products on fresh produce to maintain freshness and reduce food waste, according to the release.

PureFresh ships cherries, kiwifruit, nectarines, peaches, plums, apricots and other fruit.
