Selah, Wash.-based Rainier Fruit Co. is kicking off its annual holiday program “Pears for Pairs.”

A portion of proceeds of bulk and bagged pear sales during the holiday season will go to the Hanes National Sock Drive, now in its 10th year, to benefit the homeless.

Rainier, Matson Fruit Co. and Blue Star Growers donated more than 20,000 pairs of socks to five charitable organizations during the 2018 holiday season, according to a news release.

“Last year’s Pears for Pairs campaign gave us an opportunity to share our ‘Wholesome to the Core’ values across our entire supply chain,” Mark Zirkle, CEO of Rainier Fruit, said in the release.

Participating retailers hit double-digit increases in year-over-year volume sale of pears through the campaign.

The Pears for Pairs campaign is open to all retailers nationwide and runs from September through December, according to the release.
